Moira McKenzie Wins Congressional Art Contest

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith announced that Moira McKenzie of Virginia High School won the 2026 Congressional Art Competition in Virginia's Ninth Congressional District.

Moira’s award-winning artwork, From Sea to Shining Sea, will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year, where it will be featured alongside pieces from top student artists across the nation.

"Congratulations to Moira McKenzie on her victory in this year's Congressional Art Competition in the Ninth District," said Griffith. "Her work captures this year's theme, 'Celebrating 250 Years of America,' and has earned a spot in the U.S. Capitol for all to see."

"The Congressional Art Competition is a great opportunity for students to tap into their potential and challenge themselves. Student exercise their artistic talents and gifts with the support of educators as they play an important role in Virginia's Ninth District. I would like to thank Debbi Martin...for supporting students during this process."

This recognition marks an exciting milestone not only for Moira, but also for the VHS art program, which has now achieved back-to-back wins in this highly competitive contest.

The entire school community extends its congratulations to Moira for her creativity, dedication, and hard work. Her accomplishment brings pride to Virginia High School and serves as an inspiration to fellow students across the division.
