Virginia Middle School students recently showcased their skills at the GoTec State Robotics Competition in Danville, where two teams represented the school with creativity, teamwork, and determination.
Over the past several weeks, students dedicated countless hours to building, testing, and redesigning their robots in preparation for the competition. Their hard work paid off as both teams performed exceptionally well against strong competition from across the state.
Team Outlaws impressed judges and spectators with a unique robot design featuring dual claws, allowing for efficient control and performance during challenges. Meanwhile, Team Robotic Ragers engineered an advanced robot capable of stacking and raising three pins, along with an innovative hammer mechanism used to knock pins down—showcasing both precision and creativity.
The competition was fierce, but both teams rose to the challenge and represented Virginia Middle School with pride. The Robotic Ragers, consisting of Max H., Ian Mc., and Chelsea R., earned the Gracious Professionalism Award for their outstanding sportsmanship, kindness, and professionalism throughout the event.
A great time was had by all, and students are already looking ahead—excited and motivated to build, improve, and compete again in next year’s robotics competition!
