VHS student Shep Parsons was awarded the prestigious Youth Leadership Medal by the Fort Chiswell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
The DAR Youth Leadership Medal recognizes outstanding young people in grades 5–11 who demonstrate the highest standards of Honor, Service, Leadership, Courage, and Patriotism. Only one medal is awarded per grade per school each year. The award aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the qualities of citizenship essential to preserving America's sovereignty and independence.
The medal features a bronze bust of George Washington on a red, white, and blue ribbon, accompanied by an official certificate from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
