Context of the Standard |
Using computers comes with a level of responsibility, such as not sharing login information, keeping passwords private, and logging off a computer device when finished with a task. These behaviors apply regardless of whether a student is at school or on a computer at another location. In addition to keeping information private, responsible behaviors should be exhibited when engaging in online communications. Online communication facilitates positive interactions, such as sharing ideas with many people, but the public and anonymous nature of online communication also allows for intimidating and inappropriate behavior in the form of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that occurs when online communications are sent that are intimidating or threatening in nature. Students are not responsible for the term cyberbullying in first grade. |
