stuff for today's lesson I have a few questions for you what are the chances that a pig could fly there's nothing impossible for the flat they don't have wings what about so what are the chances that if you're 8 years old now that you will turn 9 years old on your next birthday that's certainly going to happen since you're a what are the chances that it will rain cats and dogs it should be impossible cuz it won't rain cats and dogs that's it can't even happen last question so what are the chances that if today is Friday that tomorrow will be sad you should be certain is going to happen there's no way around it so all these chances we can call them probability so probably is the likelihood of How likely something is to happen so we stood what are the chances that pigs would fly that's impossible it's not going to happen and why certain to happen and then there are some things in between that we won't talk about so now we're going to put these probabilities on a number line what is a number line from 0 to 1 and let's say we have a probability of 0 because examples the chance or probability of pigs flying in 04 I said earlier it's impossible right but let's say we have a probability of 1 like if you are eight years old then you will be 9 years old at your next birthday we said that was for her that would have a probability of 1 cuz you wouldn't be 10 you don't be nice though it has a probability is certain right but what if some things in between let's say we have a brother 1/2 well as much as if you flip a coin you can either get heads or tails equally likely chance of getting head is only one head a video to getting a tell because there's only one till we call that equally likely now let's say it that is somewhere between impossible inquiry likely so it's less than 1 we would say that that is unlikely to happen because your chances of that happening are not very good just like your chances of winning the lottery or something if you're an adult very low chance you can get it but equally likely in certain if you have a probability that's greater than 1/2 and falling in this range can you can say that that probability is likely to happen there's a good chance that it's going to happen just like there's a good chance that it's going to rain sometime this week because we're in Spring and it rains a lot in friend gets life what happened so let's talk about an example I have this coin right here you can say it's got a head studs go ahead and it's is that the building on the back lipstick Queen mini figure out what am I what am I to chances of getting ahead see when you look at all the possible all the possible outcomes so it's a coin has two sides one side to side different possible outcomes right come back and get hair Bartell's how many hairs are there on a coin there's only one head but how many sides does a coin have has to size 1 out of 2 chance of getting head cuz there's only one head and there's two pause abilities are two outcomes the one out of two alright let's look at tails so how many tails are there on a coin The Head and the tail that was only one sales so it's also one and there's two different possible outcomes the one out of two again pho what do you notice about these two numbers that is saying they're both equal to one half so if we were to look at our probability number line Spirit have 0 and 1 we have our 1/2 here are probability would go right here and if you remember what I just said this mean that there is an equally likely chance of getting ahead and equally likely chance of getting a Tails because the numbers here are the same the same probability
