The Virginia State Reading Association selects 10 primary and 10 elementary level books for students across the state to listen to or read. The Virginia State Reading Association provides opportunities for students to select their favorite book and announces the winners in the Spring.
The librarian reads at least four of the books from the primary level book list to the students in K - 3 and introduces at least four of the elementary level books to students in grades 4 - 5. Many of the primary and elementary books are available in the school library, public library, and local bookstores.
