BVPS Chooses New Superintendent

BVPS Superintendent Dr. Keith S. Perrigan

Dr. Keith S. Perrigan was appointed as the next superintendent of Bristol City Public Schools at today’s school board meeting. His new position will be effective January 2017. Perrigan has more than 22 years experience in public education in Virginia. Perrigan has worked in Washington County, Bristol City and Norton City throughout his career. Since 2014, he has served as the division superintendent for Norton City Public Schools.

“I am extremely honored to be selected as the next superintendent of Bristol City Public Schools,” said Perrigan.

Randy Alvis, chairman of the Bristol City School Board, believes Perrigan will be a great fit for the division. He stated, “We welcome Dr. Perrigan to Bristol City Public Schools. His experience in public education will be a great asset to the division and community.”

Perrigan earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, a master of science in educational leadership from Radford University, and a bachelor of arts degree in history from University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

He is married to Amy, and they have 2 children, Alexis & Isaac.

The Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) assisted the school board with the superintendent search process.
