Students in grades 6 - 12 will be assigned a laptop computer which will be used for classwork.
The student/parent/guardian assumes responsibility for the care, security, loss of, or any damages incurred to the computer, power cord, power brick and backpack.
This laptop may be taken home to do coursework and may contain academic resources such as digital textbooks, videos and other digital resources.
The school system retains full ownership and control of all resources, devices and accounts provided to your child. The use of these resources is a privilege and access to these resources may be revoked at any time for inappropriate or unauthorized use.
Additionally, there should be no expectation of privacy when using these resources. Bristol Virginia Public Schools archives and maintains email for up to 12 months after which time it may be discarded. Records of internet usage are also retained for several weeks.
Your child is expected to take care of the computer and other resources that are provided them and may be liable for damages to these resources. All damage incidents will be investigated by school administration and technology staff. If it appears that damage is beyond that of normal wear and tear, the student may be asked to pay for damages.
