Coaches for 2024-25
We are pleased to introduce Kristin McDavid as the head coach for the Bearcat Cross Country teams this fall. She will be assisted by Michael Roe. The MS coach will be Daniel Womack.

Pre-Season Workouts
Any student in grades 6-12 that is interested in running cross-country this season can meet on Monday, July 28th at 8:30am at Sugar Hollow in the lower parking lot. You must have a current VHSL physical on file to participate and please bring a water bottle.

VHSL DEAD PERIOD FOR WINTER AND SPRING SPORTS
Please note that out-of-season sports (VHSL Winter and Spring Seasons) are on a VHSL mandated dead period from July 27th-August 10th, 2025. This does not apply to fall sports.

VHSL PHYSICALS
Please note that any student-athlete that plans on participating in any sport this year must have a current VHSL physical on file to participate in any workout or practice. One change is physicals are now good for 14 months from the date the physical was received.

Just a reminder that the Virginia HS Athletic Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 12 in the VHS Auditorium. Doors will open at 5pm and the ceremony will start at 6pm. The VHS Bearcat Nation Booster Club will provide light refreshments. This banquet is for all varsity sports to recognize their teams and award winners.

Please note that all physicals must be completed on the updated VHSL Physical Form. It should have April 2025 in the top right-hand corner. This physical is required for any rising 6th through 12th grader that wants to participate in any middle school or high school sport next year. These forms can be found in the offices of Virginia Intermediate Schoo, Virgnia Middle School, and Virginia High School or at www.vhsl.org. Please have parts I, II, and III of the form completed before checking in. Thank you!

Bristol Virginia Public Schools will offer athletic physicals at Virginia HS on Saturday, May 17th from 8:30am to 11:30am. The cost is $10 per person. Due to a fire at Virginia Intermont College and difficulties getting buses into those areas, we are cancelling school for Virginia Primary School and Virginia Intermediate School on Friday December 20th, 2024. Virginia High and Virginia Middle will be on a 2 hour delay. Today will still be an early dismissal day. We are very sorry for the late notice and the inconvenience it is causing. Thank you.

Bearcat Cross Country practice starts tomorrow August 5th at 9am at the Virginia High School track. Here is the practice schedule for the rest of the week. All practices this week will be at Virginia High School. Monday, August 5th - 9am to 10am Tuesday, August 6th - 12pm to 1pm Wednesday, August 7th - 2:45pm to 4pm Thursday, August 8th and Friday, August 9th - 3pm to 4:30pm You must have a completed VHSL physical on file to participate. Please show up if you are interested in participating in either of these fall sports. Please call 276-821-5880 with any questions.

Bearcat Varsity and JV Volleyball tryouts will be held at Virginia High School on Monday, August 5th starting at 8am and Tuesday, August 6th at 3pm.
