Bristol Virginia Public Schools is excited to partner with the Cook Center for Human Connection to provide mental health supports and resources for our students, families, staff and community. There are a number of resources available to you, such as:

  1.  Online Parenting Courses

In BVPSParentGuidance.org, register and you will instantly gain access to over 50 free courses to participate in, right in the privacy of your own home.

  1. Ask a Therapist

This resource allow you to submit a question of your own and/or review therapist responses to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) submitted by other parents.

  1. Mental Health Family Nights (in person and online)

Taking place throughout the school year at each of our schools, these one-hour courses will address a variety of topics to provide support to parents. More info coming!

  1. Parent Coaching

If you need additional parenting support, COACHING is a free, confidential resource we are providing parents. Please use this link to learn more about Parent Coaching. It will explain what coaching can do for you and includes short videos within the website that explain more about coaching. If you feel coaching is the extra layer of support you are looking for, go directly to https://parentguidance.org/school-coaching/ and select "Register for Coaching" to get registered – it is a FREE service to families within our district. Your participation in Coaching is completely HIPPA compliant and confidential. Your personal information, participation, or concerns discussed will NOT be reported back to the school district.

We are pleased to offer this free and confidential website for families, BVPSParentGuidance.org. This site was developed by licensed therapists that provides trusted and specialized courses, professional support, and a safe community for parents, to learn how to support your child. Parents can also get answers to mental health questions, especially anxiety, depression, self- worth, grief and loss, suicide ideation, self-harm, bullying, family strife and other mental health concerns. Popular courses you may want to explore are: “Parenting with a Purpose” and “Helping Your Child When They’re Bullied.” The courses within BVPSParentGuidance.org will provide you with tools to form stronger bonds with your children.
