The Forensics Team is not a team that performs autopsies or examines crime scenes; however, it is an academic team that competes in speech events in the winter and spring. Competitions include the following categories of events: original oratory, where competitors write and present speeches of their own; interpretation events where competitors perform poems, humorous and dramatic short stories, essays, excerpts from novels and monologues from plays or movies; extemporaneous speaking where competitors have twenty minutes to prepare a speech giving a position on a contemporary issue; duo where two competitors perform a dialogue from a play, movie, short story or novel; and impromptu where the student must develop and perform a short piece a few minutes after being assigned a topic.

Extemporaneous Speaking - Students get twenty minutes to research and outline a speech on a contemporary issue.
