The Forensics Team is not a team that performs autopsies or examines crime scenes; however, it is an academic team that competes in speech events in the winter and spring. Competitions include the following categories of events: original oratory, where competitors write and present speeches of their own; interpretation events where competitors perform poems, humorous and dramatic short stories, essays, excerpts from novels and monologues from plays or movies; extemporaneous speaking where competitors have twenty minutes to prepare a speech giving a position on a contemporary issue; duo where two competitors perform a dialogue from a play, movie, short story or novel; and impromptu where the student must develop and perform a short piece a few minutes after being assigned a topic.
Duo - Two students chose a scene to act out using only words
Extemporaneous Speaking - Students get twenty minutes to research and outline a speech on a contemporary issue.
Humorous Interpretation - Students practice and deliver a monologue that is humorous.
Dramatic Interpretation - Students practice and deliver a dramatic speech.
Poetry - Students practice and deliver an interpretation of poetry.
Pros Interpretation - Students practice and deliver a pros that they have chosen.
Provocations - Students are given a situation and are asked to develop and deliver a short scene.
