Stonewall Jackson Elementary School has served the city of Bristol, VA from 1947 - 2024. We would like to thank all of the students, parents, staff and faculty that have built memories while at SJES. Due to school consolidation, Stonewall Jackson will close its doors on May 31, 2024.

Tracey Dingus:  Hi, I'm Tracey Dingus and I was a teacher at Stonewall Jackson from 1991 to 2008. I started out as a 24 year old teaching sixth grade and my last year there, I was 42 teaching 4th and 5th grade. So you can say that I spent the majority of my adult life within the halls of Stonewall Jackson. I've been fortunate as the years have gone on to be able to go back as an ITRT and spend time with teachers and students. It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks that Stonewall Jackson will close its doors. One thing in this life is certain and that's change and this is just another one of those changes, but nothing can change the memories that we made while we were there together.

Aria Asbury:  Hello, Stonewall Jackson. As the Art Teacher, you know that I go to all four elementary schools, but to say that I look forward to Thursday's is an understatement.  I hope that in my 4 - 5 years there, I hope that  I have been able to cultivate a moment of rest and a moment of fun for my students and build up their confidence.  That has always been my number one goal.  I love those kids to death.  I've drawn so many things for these kids over the last four years and I wouldn't take back a moment of it. I'm so thankful this school was able to show me who I am as both as a teacher and a person. I will always be grateful and I won't forget a moment of it.

Sara Cook:  Hey guys, my name is Sara Cook and I'm a current teacher at Stonewall Jackson Elementary. You know when I sit down and I think about what Stonewall means to me, there's only one word that comes to mind and that's "Home."  Home is a safe place it's a comfort zone, it is a place where you live with your family and spend time with your friends. It's a place to build memories as well as build a future. Home is the place where we can truly just be ourselves. So, I will forever be grateful for the lives I have crossed at my time at Stonewall Jackson. A good friend recently told me that we all have to go through seasons of uprooting and replanting. That's what growth is all about. Our stories can't be a purpose without them. So, I just want to remind everybody that Stonewall Jackson will forever be a family and it's always a place that we can call home.  I love you guys.
