Communities In Schools of Southwest Virginia is seeking a Site Coordinator to be based in Bristol City.  Position is a Full Time 10 Month position. Individual would be responsible for Coordinating the Communities In Schools (CIS) program at the school level including planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of resources and services. Complex work is performed within specific program objectives and policies; employee communicates with school principal to plan work and coordinates with others to ensure program effectiveness. Contacts are made regularly and frequently with instructional and administrative personnel as well as business persons and resource personnel outside of the school system. Focus is on family and community involvement in dropout prevention.

Essential Job Functions will include:

  • Coordinates design, development, and implementation of a model school CIS program. Establishes and maintains productive working relationship with instructional and administrative personnel; assists CIS administrator in providing leadership and direction in carrying out the program as identified by the CIS Board of Southwest Virginia.
  • Develops a plan for family outreach; forms a family support team to assess pupil and family needs; and identifies and coordinates resources to provide needed services to pupils and their families.
  • Coordinates appropriate linkages within school district and other appropriate state and local human service agency personnel. Coordinates and maintains appropriate linkages with private sector, including businesses, parents and citizens.
  • Assists in locating external sponsors and developing agency agreements: assists in the preparation of budget request and revision; recommends purchases and expenditures; maintains financial records.
  • Documents program activities and provides reports in compliance with national and local CIS guidelines.
  • Assists in the preparation of regular reports for presentation to the School Board on issues related to Communities in Schools.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of budget.
  • Other duties as assigned

    An Associate’s Degree or experience in related field in community services is required.
