The 20th Annual Virginia Tech Honor Band will take place Friday, January 20–Sunday, January 22, 2017. The weekend will end with a concert at the Moss Arts Center on Sunday, January 22 at 1:00 PM. This concert is free and open to the public.
Approximately 400 students from 8 states are selected based on nominations from their band director. Students spend the weekend in rehearsals, clinics, and performances on the Virginia Tech campus. Dr. Jonathan Caldwell, Conductor of the Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble, will conduct the Honors Wind Ensemble, while the three concert bands will be conducted by Dr. Dana Biggs, Associate Director of Athletic Bands at Virginia Tech, Dr. Joseph Tornello, Director of Athletic Bands at Boise State University, and Mr. Darren Kirsch, Director of Bands at Grafton High School (Yorktown).
Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts faculty members will also present masterclasses and performances throughout the weekend for the students, directors, and parents in attendance.
