The Virginia Department of Health has updated their guidelines for COVID-19 to align with the updated CDC respiratory guidance. With this update, the time that students and staff are asked to stay out of school/work if they test positive for COVID-19 will be reduced. With the new guidelines:
People can go back to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:
• Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
• You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
Once you return to school or work, you are encouraged to take precautions for the next five days to reduce the spread of disease. This includes:
• Taking steps for cleaner air.
• Enhancing hygiene practices.
• Wearing a face mask.
• Keeping a distance from others and getting tested as needed.
If you have any questions or need more information, please contact your school nurse.
