BVPS Education Foundation Announces New Deputy Director

The Bristol Virginia Public Schools Education Foundation (BVPSEF) proudly announces the hiring of Mrs. Brittany Wilson Shortt as the new Deputy Director.

Mrs. Shortt brings years of experience of working with non-profit agencies focusing on fundraising, promotions, and board relations. She also has worked in the banking and food service industries. Mrs. Shortt is a Virginia High School graduate and earned a B. S. in Mass Communication from Emory & Henry College. She is married to Tim Shortt and they have two children.

Ms. Donna Hale, BVPS Education Foundation Board of Directors Chair, said “We are very excited to have Brittany on board. Her depth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm will add to our mission ‘to enhance public education in the City of Bristol, VA by providing opportunities not funded by tax dollars.’ Her commitment to the BVPS students, faculty and staff are highlighted in her goals for the Foundation.”

The BVPSEF is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency that is committed to holistically serving the BVPS system as an autonomous support organization with programs at the individual, classroom, school, and system-wide levels. The Foundation promotes private/corporate support of: high school senior merit-based and need-based scholarships, creative classroom mini-grants, schoolwide funding for selected academic programs, permanently-named endowed scholarships, public school improvement projects approved by the Bristol Virginia School Board.
