Sept. 17: Extra-Curricular Covid-19 Information Meeting @ 12:45 PM

Bristol Virginia Public Schools has been blessed that COVID-19 has not affected our schools with the same intensity that other schools across the Nation have experienced. We continue to try to adjust our plan to ensure that our learning environment is as safe as possible. The area that has caused us the most concern is extra curricular activities. Despite our best efforts to follow mitigations, the only place we have experienced transmission in the last 18 months is in this department. Based on that experience, we know now more than ever that an increase in vaccinations is our best chance to keep these opportunities available to our students.

Due to an outbreak in our football program (3 cases over 2 weeks), we are working with the Mount Rogers Health District to offer an information session for our football players and their parents. The meeting will be held virtually at 12:45 p.m. on Friday September 17, 2021. An invite will be sent to players. This will be an opportunity for athletes and parents to learn more about the vaccine and to have an opportunity to have their questions answered by an expert. There will not be opportunities for debate, as this is an informational session only.

If athletes from other programs and their parents would like to attend the virtual meeting, please email Mr. Harper at [email protected].

If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Keith Perrigan
Superintendent
