VHS Music Department Earns VMEA Blue Ribbon School for Music Award

The Virginia Music Educators Association Blue Ribbon School for Music has been awarded yearly since 2001 to middle and high school music programs across the state of Virginia. To earn this award a school must have had their top performing band and chorus receive a SUPERIOR rating at the State Concert Assessment in March.

Congratulations to the Virginia High School Music Department for being recognized as a VMEA Blue Ribbon School for Music! Recently, the band and chorale attended state assessment, where they each performed to receive a score from the judges. Under the direction of Mr. Brandon Guffey, both the Virginia High School Concert Band and Marching Band received a Superior score, awarding them the recognition of a VBODA Commonwealth of Virginia Honor Band.  The VHS Chorale, under the direction of Ms. Raejean Harman, earned straight Superior ratings at District VII Choral Assessment for the 14th consecutive year!
