2022 June BEST Winners

  • Lisa Adkins, Nominated by a Colleague
    • Above and Beyond:  Lisa has given up planning for the past month to help her seniors pass other classes in order to graduate; always checks on her seniors academically and emotionally; when she finds out one of her seniors is behind she instantly makes a plan to get them back on track
    • Exceptional Contribution:  she has met with students’ teachers to see what they are missing and sets daily goals for them; she has gone above and beyond to help them graduate
    • Extraordinary Leadership:  Lisa most recently took her students to the Greenbrier for an etiquette luncheon which gave them an unforgettable experience; always tries to open their eyes to the opportunities that are out there for them
  • Tim Duncan, Nominated by a Parent
    • Above and Beyond:  he makes a point to talk to students and call them by name at VHS during the school day; taken time to get to know the students’ likes and interests; found ways to encourage students to do their best
    • Exceptional Contribution:  has provided encouragement and support during IEP meetings for students and parents; has offered assistance and guidance to students to help prepare them for the future
    • Other:  has made a difference in the lives of students; has participated in activities, such as weight lifting and PE classes with students; his dedication to student success has made a lasting impact in the lives of our students
  • Hannah Monk Timmons, Nominated by a Colleague
    • Above and Beyond:  Hannah works one-to-one with an autistic student and keeps the student on track academically; she assists the student all day and stays in contact with the parent to keep them informed; makes sure the student gets exercise every day with walks outside the building
    • Exceptional Contribution:  has provided an exceptional senior prom evening for her student; made sure the student had the attire needed for the evening;  she and her family took the student to dinner and provided transportation and she stayed with the student during the prom
    • Extraordinary Leadership:  is an excellent role model for her student; always happy and smiling and dedicated to the success of the student; she is by far the student’s greatest support at VHS
