Fredia Adkins
  • Fredia Adkins, Nominated by a Colleague
    • Above and Beyond: She takes special care of staff and students.  Any time there is a need she is on it!  She has an excellent work ethic while at the same time showing that she is kind, patient, and funny.
    • Exceptional Contribution: Fredia is extremely organized and knowledgeable regarding ALL things VP.  She is prompt, thorough, and usually has something completed before you ever ask.  Van Pelt could not function without her.
    • Extraordinary Leadership: A student titled her the C.I.O. (checker inner outer)!  Obviously she does not much more.  She is the backbone and Rockstar of Van Pelt.  She provides excellent leadership to those in the main office, new hires, and those throughout the school.
 
Lindsey Boyd
  • Lindsey Boyd, Nominated by a Colleague
    • Above and Beyond: Lindsey is always willing to go above and beyond daily.  Her positive attitude radiates in everything she does.  We are truly blessed to have her as the face of Bristol Virginia Public Schools.
    • Exceptional Contribution: Lindsey greets the public with such gentleness and kindness.  Taking time to listen and show compassion.  Regardless of the situation, she show unapparelled grace.  Overall, Lindsey makes our office a happier place.
 
Zachlynn Lallande
  • Zachlynn Lallande, Nominated by a Parent
    • Above and Beyond: Coach Z has wrapped her arms around my kids helping to increase their self-esteem and encouraged their love of running.   Without her constant support I know they would not be as excited about running or confident in their ability as they are today.  The support to her athletes extends beyond the classroom and running events.  She can be seen most nights at other sporting events, cheering on the athletes and showing her love and support.
    • Extraordinary Leadership: Coach Z has taken every opportunity to include the elementary kids in cross country and track events.  Giving these kids opportunities they have never been given before.  She has greatly increased the participation in cross country and track during her time as the head coach.
    • Exceptional Contribution: Coach Z organized and ran the first every elementary track events in Southwest Virginia.  This gave our students an opportunity to experience a track meet at a very young age.  An opportunity of this kind would have never happened without her dedication to the program.  The students had an incredible time.  There is no doubt that because of her efforts there are students who would have never considered running that are now interested.
 
Mitzie White
  • Mitzie White, Nominated by a Colleague
    • Above and Beyond: This lady is always performing above and beyond her duties here at VHS.  She is in constant contact with administrators and teachers making sure the needs of all her students are being met. 
    • Extraordinary Leadership: Not only is Mitzie a leader she is also a team player.  She is ready to pick up the slack with the need arises with a co-worker. 
    • Exceptional Contribution: Mitzie demonstrates what it takes to be a leader.  Not only is she there to make sure all of her department positions are filled for the day. But she has the ability to place the substitute in a classroom she feels comfortable with for the day.  
    • Appropriate Situational Awareness: Anytime there is a conflict among students she is ready to resolve it by taking authority and showing compassion to the students.
    • Other: I call Mitzie the Chaos Coordinator.  She is always on top of the staffing needs for her department and is able to coordinate and fill any positions that have arisen overnight.  She does this while still fulfilling her cafeteria duties in the morning.
