Principal's Message

On behalf of the Highland View family, I am happy to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year!  We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.  We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  • Completes assignments given by teachers
  • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills
  • Knows your expectations for behavior at school and on the school bus
  • Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and do his/her best

Thank you for working with us by getting your child to school on time, attending school events, and supporting your child at home.  I know you are as proud as I am to be a part of children’s success. Our challenges present us with opportunities to make a difference for our children and ultimately shape the future through their success.  It continues to be imperative that all of us embrace the idea of doing whatever it takes to ensure the academic growth of our students.  Please remember that collaboration with your child’s teacher is the main ingredient to a healthy and successful year.  I encourage you to stay in close communication with your child’s teacher(s) through phone calls, emails, apps, Teams meetings, and scheduled appointments.  We also encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website for important updates and school information.

My priorities as principal of Highland View Elementary School include maintaining school safety and health, increasing student achievement, increasing teacher quality and effectiveness in the classroom, and growing positive relationships within our school community.  Promoting your children’s best interest is the single most important area of my focus.  I am passionate about my mission as principal and I will continue to make decisions that are in the best interest of our children.

I am excited to meet you all and work with your children!  The faculty and staff at HVES have been working diligently this summer to learn strategies and best practices to help your child reach their highest potential.  I am encouraged by the support and gratitude you expressed and look forward to this year’s journey together.  I am honored to serve as the principal at HVES.  It is great to be a part of a community where students, teachers, and parents care for each other and strive to build meaningful relationships that support academic and social-emotional growth.

Warmest Regards,

Amanda Chitwood
