Please click the link below to complete a short survey about your satisfaction with special education services in Bristol Virginia Public Schools. If you would rather complete a hard copy of this survey, your student should be bringing one home during the week of September 24. You only need to complete it once, either hard copy or on-line. We appreciate your help on this!

Virginia Department of Education “2017-2018 Parent Survey”

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has opened the “2017-2018 School Year Parent Survey” for parents of students with special needs. VDOE anticipates dissemination of a paper version of the 2017-2018 Indicator 8 Parent Survey to each school division no later than July 15, 2018, and distributed to each parent of a child with a disability as soon as possible upon their receipt.  The survey format has been changed from a postcard to a “bubble sheet.” However, the bubble sheet will also come with a pre-addressed postage paid envelope for easy return to VDOE.  The new survey will ask respondents to answer several questions, which will be used to determine the “percent of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities” within each school division.

In addition to the bubble sheet survey, families have the opportunity to complete an online survey.  The online survey is now open and is available for completion in English and Spanish at the following websites:

English Version: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VDOE2018English

Spanish Version: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VDOE2018Espanol

Families who have more than one child receiving special education services should complete the online survey as it applies to each of their children with special needs.

The collection window for both the bubble sheet and online survey will remain open until December 14, 2018.  VDOE has renewed its goal of increasing the number of survey responses we receive.  As such, during the collection window VDOE will engage in a number of technical assistance outreach efforts to parents and parent organizations to ensure that every parent of a child with a disability in the Commonwealth has the opportunity to participate in the survey, either via the bubble sheet or online.  If you have questions or need assistance concerning this survey process, please contact Hank Millward, via email, at [email protected]or via telephone at (804) 371-0525.
