Oct. 10: Threat at VHS & Response

Members of the administrative team at Virginia High School issued a hold command for all students and staff for a brief period today (10/10/23).  The “hold” command is one of our standard response protocols.  It is used when there is a need to keep students in their current locations while a safety concern is being resolved.  While under a hold command, teachers move students into classrooms, secure classroom doors and continue instructional lessons as normal.  Today we received a rumor of a potential weapon and bomb threat on campus that caused us to enact the hold response at 11:42 AM and resume normal operations at 12:42PM.  Law enforcement, in coordination with school personnel swept the school and determined it to be safe.
