FLU VACCINATION CLINICS
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED

Dear Parents, Students, and School Staff,

Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses. COVID-19 is caused by infection with a new coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2) and flu is caused by infection with influenza viruses. Because some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, it may be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone. In an effort to prevent as much illness as possible, it is strongly recommended that everyone receive a flu immunization. The Mount Rogers Health District, in cooperation with Bristol Virginia Public Schools, are pleased to provide flu vaccination clinics for students and school staff during the month of September and October.

The Mount Rogers Health District will offer the flu shot. Medicaid and private insurances will be billed but there will be no out-of-pocket expenses billed to the patient.

  • Register at https://redcap.link/MRHDschoolflu.  To allow sufficient time to review the health histories, it is important that you register by October 6th.
  • Be sure to read the vaccine information sheet, which is provided at the REDCap link above.
We appreciate your help in keeping yourself, your schools, and our communities healthy.
