Information Regarding Vision & Hearing Screenings for Students Studying Remotely in Grades K, 3, 7, 10 and New Students

Attention Parents/Guardians,

Per the code of VA, all students in grades K, 3, 7, 10 and new students, shall be screened for vision and hearing.  A waiver of this requirement has been granted for the 2020-2021 school year, if students are entirely virtual and a parent provides a written declination of the screening services.

Vision and hearing screenings are essential for detecting abnormalities that may lead to inadequate school performance.  Undetected impairments may also lead to permanent or worsening visual or hearing loss.  Any student that has a visual or hearing impairment identified at school through screenings is advised to check with their physician.

If your child is studying remotely, and is in Kindergarten grades 3, 7, 10 OR a new student, please schedule a time online.  Alternatively, if you do not wish your child to be screened, please return the Opt Out form below to your school nurse.
