Mrs. Hampton joined the staff of Virginia Middle School in 2003 after graduating Suma Cum Laude from King College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science with a minor in K-8 Education. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award from King College. She has received a certification in online professional development facilitation from Antioch University.  For five summers, she has participated in the Technology Academy sponsored by the Bristol Virginia City School System. She has lead various staff development workshops in the area of technology, and is currently serving on the Technology Advisory Committee for the school system. She has also served on King College’s Educational Advisory Committee. Mrs. Hampton was named VMS Teacher of the Year for 2005/2006. In 2007, she received her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. In 2008, she became a Teacher Consultant for the Appalachian Writing Project, a subsidiary of the National Writing Project.
