Meet the Teacher!!
Hi!
I'm Sara DeBusk. I am the farmer's daughter from Floyd County,
Virginia. I grew up on a vegetable farm with my mom and dad, my 2
brothers, my sister, my 3 cats, our hamster, Pokey, and for a short time, our
hermit crab. I spent much of my time outside in the fields, riding bikes,
climbing trees and playing in the dirt with my brothers and sister.
I
attended Floyd County High School and graduated in 1996. GO
BUFFALOES!! I then went to VA Western Community College in Roanoke, VA
and graduated with an Associates Degree in Education. I transferred to
Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's
Degree in Interdisciplinary English Pre-K-8. I got my first teaching job
in Galax, VA where I worked as a Special Ed Resource teacher. I taught 1st grade for two years.
During this time I decided to return to college and in the summer of 2003, I
received my Masters Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist from Emory and
Henry College. I have been teaching 4th/5th grade Social Studies at
Highland View Elementary for the last 6 years! GO BEARCATS!
I
am married to my wonderful husband, Chris, and we live in Glade Spring,
Virginia. Our daughter, Kara, is turning 3 this summer! We also have our cat, Daisy, and our 4
fish. LIFE IS GOOD.
