Supporting your
child with ADHD at home can be very tiring. But to help your child succeed,
you'll need to coach daily. You'll find it's easier if you have a practical
and meaningful plan geared to his level of development.
Stick to a
regular schedule each day. Children with ADHD function much better in
a structured environment.
Catch your child
being GOOD! Give him lots of praise and encouragement.
Keep directions
short and simple. You can even have her repeat the directions back to
you to help her remember what you want her to do.
Prepare your
child for changes in the normal routine. Go over the changes and make
sure he understands what will be expected of him.
Work with the
doctors and the school. These are people who also want what is best
for your child. Keep the lines of communication open.
