COURSE GOALS:
Lifetime wellness is to help students understand and learn skills necessary to achieve and maintain good health and live a physical active lifestyle. This process will lead to personal enjoyment, challenge, satisfaction and a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. Our program is consistent with our school’s philosophy, goals and the Virginia ‘s SOL’s.
OBJECTIVES:

The student will demonstrate
proficiency on the physical fitness assessment.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate competence in a variety of fundamental movement skills and patterns.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate responsible personal and social behaviors in physical activity
setting.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate physical active lifestyle that includes activities in and outside of
the school.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate movement concepts and principles to improve their motor skills.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and behaviors that reduces health
risks and enhances the health of themselves and others.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate the ability to access, evaluate and use health information, products
and services that influence health and well-being in a positive manner.
·
The student will learn and
demonstrate the use of appropriate health practices and behaviors to promote the
health and well-being of individuals, family and community.
·
The student will complete six
writing assignments based on tasks/concepts of studies during the school year.
