Classroom Expectations

Dear Parents:
I am delighted to have your child in my class this year. My goal is to allow every student an opportunity to learn in a positive, friendly, and respectful classroom environment. The plan below outlines our classroom agreements, consequences for inappropriate behavior, and positive rewards for following the agreements.
Agreements:
1. Attentive Listening
a. Follow directions when given
b. Be prepared and use time wisely
2. Mutual Respect
a. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
b. Be respectful of others, their property, and school property
3. No Put Downs
a. Treat others the way you want to be treated
b. No unkind words allowed
4. Give Appreciations
a. Use kind words and give compliments
5. The Right to Pass
a. When appropriate you have the right not to participate in discussions
Consequences: Based on the type of agreement that was broken, a child might need a gentle reminder or a few minutes away from the group during lunch or recess. Demerits are given when a student is unprepared for class, brings an unsigned Agenda, or has behavioral/respect issues.
Office Visit ~ severe disruption such as hitting, fighting, abusive or inappropriate language, etc. will result in a visit to the office
Rewards:
1. Positive praise
2. Stickers
3. Positive notes home
4. Treasure Box
5. Friday treats
I know we will have a wonderful year and I look forward to working with you and your child.
Thank you for your support!
Mrs. James
