Hello, my name is Mrs. Jenny Hustad, and I just want to say, "I love little people."   I have such a great love for children ages 3 to 6 years old.  They have such vivid imaginations, and they are full of wonder and curiosity.  I have dedicated my life to teaching this age child, and I have loved every year of my career.

I grew up in Jefferson City, TN, but moved to Bristol, Virginia when I began my teaching career in 1970 after graduating from Carson-Newman College.  I am certified to teach kindergarten, and I have taught at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School for the past 38 years.  I was chosen the Bristol VA/TN Rotary Club "Teacher of the Year" for 2007.  I am humbled and honored to represent the finest school system in Southwest Virginia as this year's recipient of this award.

I have been married for 36 years to my best friend and soul mate, Perry and we have been blessed with two wonderful sons, Phillip and Jon, and two wonderful daughter's-in-law, Alicia and Amanda.  The "love of my life" right now is my six-year old grandson, Nathanael Grant.  He will be in the first grade this year at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School.  I am so fortunate to have been able to see him begin his formal education this past year in our kindergarten program. What a thrill it was for me to listen to him read and watch his hand writing develop. My heart turned somersaults when he would read me the stories he wrote in his journal.

My favorite leisure activities include reading and gardening.  I love to read to my grandson.  I enjoy Bible studies and retreats with my church family.  My spring and summer's are spent working in my flower gardens and my yard.  I do not have any pets, but my yard is full of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, groundhogs, raccoons, sometimes deer and even an occasional skunk!

I am so excited to have you visit my web page.  If you are a parent of a student in my class, please contact me if you have any concerns throughout the year.  I would also like suggestions on how I can improve this site to help you.
