The 2007-2008 school year will be my fifth year as a Virginia Reading First
Literacy Coach at Highland View Elementary in the Bristol Virginia Public School
System. Before coming to Highland View Elementary School, I
worked as licensed reading specialist at Abingdon Elementary School in
Washington County, Virginia. As a literacy coach, I am able to fulfill my
life's goals to promote literacy.
I earned a B.A. Degree from Emory and Henry College and a Master's Degree in
Reading from East Tennessee State University. I have received training in
gifted education, special education, and inclusion from the University of
Virginia. I hold a credential in Children's Literature from University of
Virginia. I have taken storytelling classes at both University of Virginia
and East Tennessee State University. As Highland View's Literacy Coach, I
receive ongoing training from the
Virginia State Department of Education.
In my effort to promote literacy, I am an adjunct instructor at King College in
Bristol, Tennessee where I teach Adaptive Processes in Reading and Reading
Instruction to future teachers. It is my desire that aspiring
teachers learn the best strategies for teaching reading based on the most up-to-date scientifically-based
reading research.
I am married to Roy Hull, pastor at Three Springs United Methodist Church.
I have three sons, two daughters-in-law, granddaughter, Reagan, and a
German Police Dog named "Rosie".
I have many hobbies. I love traveling, boating, swimming, baseball,
football games, concerts, storytelling, theatre, and READING.
