Music education is basic to the curriculum, and, therefore, is essential to the education of the total student. The music program encourages a positive self image and a positive attitude towards music as an art form. Music education seeks to develop every student’s awareness of the impact of music on his/her daily life. The music curriculum is designed to encourage active participation through sequential musical experiences based on the elements of music. These enjoyable and meaningful experiences promote the individual’s musical growth through performance, creativity, interpretation, listening, written expression, cooperative learning, and critical thinking. |

The word BRAVO means "good job", "well done." Students should always strive to do a good job. Students are asked to follow these procedures in music class: Be careful with our books and instruments. We share them with all the classes. Respect themselves and others. This includes using their manners at all times. Ask the teacher if they have a question. This saves time and unnecessary talking. Volunteer to take part in all music activities. Music is a participation class. Own the consequences of their own behavior. Accept responsibility for their actions.
Classes earn BRAVO points by following these procedures. Additional points may be earned by entering the music room quietly and sitting in their assigned seat; and by lining up in a quiet, orderly manner at the end of class. Classes with the most BRAVO points at the end of the six weeks period are treated to a special activity. |
