Accreditations/Awards:  Virginia Standards of Learning Full Accreditation, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Community Partnerships:  Community partnerships vary, dictated by interest and need.  A number of businesses support school programs.  For example, students receive instruction in banking and maintaining an individual checking account from Wachovia Bank.  Likewise, students receive academic and/or attendance incentives/rewards from companies like Chic-fil-A and TCBY.  In turn, faculty, staff, and students support community food drives, raise funds through St. Jude's Math-a-thon, the local American Heart Association Queen of Hearts Campaign, Ronald McDonald House, and the annual United Way campaign.  Guest speakers enrich and support select units of study and community leaders are invited to read during the birthday celebration for Dr. Suess.

School Facts:  Stonewall Jackson Elementary, named for the famous Civil War general, is located one block north of the Virginia/Tennessee state line.  Designed by local architect, C.B. Kearfott, the main portion was completed in 1948, with an east-wing addition made in 1958.  The school population of 280 students is served by faculty and staff of approximately forty dedicated individuals.  Amenities include a treed campus, fenced playground area, and access to both a softball field and tennis courts.

Parent Involvement:  In addition to a long-standing, supportive Parent Teacher Association, Stonewall Jackson Elementary enjoys parent involvement at the classroom level (homeroom mothers, field trip chaperones, readers, and the like) and at the school-wide level (committee representatives, landscaping projects, Fall Festival, fundraising, and the like).
