BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Rush -  I hold an Associate of Arts and Science Degree from Virginia Highlands Community College.  I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Intermont College.  I am licensed to teach Pre-K through 6th grade in regular education and K-12 in special education. I am endorsed to teach students that are Mentally Retarded (MR), Specific Learning Disabled (SLD), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Developmentally Delayed (DD), and/or Emotionally Disturbed (ED).  This is my 7th year of teaching.  I was a special education teacher in Washington County, Virginia for four years.  For the past 3 years I have been a special education teacher for Emotionally Disturbed students.  This class was housed at Highland View Elementary School 2 years ago and is currently located at Van Pelt Elementary School.

Lori Worley - Mrs. Worley was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College. She has been a parent volunteer at Van Pelt in the past.  This is her first year as an academic assistant.  She is also on the Special Education Advisory Committee.

  • 8:30-10:00  Pull-out Language Arts (multi-handicapped)
  • 10:00-11:00 Inclusion 5th grade Math
  • 12:30-1:15   Planning/Academic Observations
  • 1:15-2:00    Inclusion 4th grade English
  • 2:00-2:45   Pull-out study hall (5th grade)

 

 
 

CLASS EXPECTIONS

  • Students are always expected to follow the policies and procedures of their regular classroom.  Mrs. Worley and I will enforce the policies and procedures of the regular classroom.  We work closely with regular classroom teachers to ensure the best learning situation for each individual student.
  • Agendas - Students in 3rd -5th grade should bring home an agenda each day with homework assignments.  Please check these DAILY!  We often use the agenda as a form of communication.
 

CLASS SUPPLIES

  • All students are expected to have the necessary supplies for their regular classroom.  You may check with their homeroom teacher for a list of supplies.  We supply pencils, erasers, paper, etc. for students who need extras.
