Highland View Elementary school library houses about 5600 books for approximately 220 students. The books are chosen to appeal to a wide range of reading interests and levels. About 45% of the collection are Accelerated Reader titles with accompanying quizzes. Students can find a wide assortment of interesting books within their own personal reading levels.
Biography
Hello, my name is Carlos Lee. I'm the Media Specialist at Highland View Elementary School. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Library Science K-12 and Physical Education K-12 from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia. I've been teaching for 25 years in the Bristol Virginia City School System, with the last four at Highland View.
Library Schedule:
Daily: Each grade level has a schedule AR Checkout and schedule library class checkout
Monday: 1st Grade AR Checkout 10:00 - 10:30, All Grades AR Checkout 1:00 - 1:45
Tuesday: 2nd Grade AR Checkout 10:00 - 10:30
Wednesday: 3rd Grade AR Checkout 10:00 - 10:30; schedule classes: Gammon (2nd), Hawthorne (3rd), Campbell (1st), Kistner (K), Baskin (4th), Henley (5th).
.Thursday: 4th Grade AR Checkout 10:00 - 10:30; schedule classes: R. DeBusk (2nd), Branson (3rd), Ashley (1st), Caudell (K), S. DeBusk (4th), Bradley (5th).
Friday: 5th Grade AR Checkout 11:00 - 11:30; schedule classes: Gouge (Pre-K).
