Welcome to the Counselor's Corner at Highland View Elementary School!  My name is Mrs. Betsy Turnbull, and I am thrilled to be the school counselor at Highland View.  I love our school--the students, the parents, and the teachers.  I work with each of these groups to achieve my goal:  helping students become the best learners they can be.  Check out the buttons on your left to learn more about Highland View and the counseling services available.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS for May 2007:   

Our annual Virginia Standards of Learning tests went smoothly this year.  We thank all of our hard-working students for putting forth 100% effort.

The school-wide field day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, and our last day of school will be on Wednesday, May 30.  The day will include an Honors Assembly at 9:00 a.m.  Official dismissal time will be1:00 p.m.

Do your best to encourage your child to follow summer safety rules Review stranger safety, bike safety, and your own restrictions on outside play.  Have a SAFE and FUN summer!

Mrs. Turnbull earned her undergraduate degree from Davidson College in North Carolina.  She holds two masters degrees:  a M.A. in history from Vanderbilt University and a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University.  She has 17 years experience in education, 10  of those as a school counselor.
