Welcome to Chemistry!  Chemistry is often called the “central science” because most of the phenomena that occur in the world around us involve chemical changes.  The concepts of chemistry allow us to understand the nature of these changes. 

Chemistry often has the reputation of being “tough” because it involves complicated systems that require some effort to figure out.  Although chemistry is often not easy, it’s never impossible.  Throughout the year, we will work through these concepts together and you will build a strong base of knowledge. You will also become a better problem solver. 

Learning the principles of chemistry is not only important, it is interesting, and often fun, too.  I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you this year, and I hope when we are finished that you will love chemistry as much as I do.
