About Me

Children's Literature of Michigan

I was born in Fruitport, Michigan and lived there until the summer of 2007. At that point my family and I relocated to the Tri-Cities area and I became part of the Bristol Virginia Public Schools family. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2003 with a degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in History.

Before coming to Virginia Middle School, I worked as the Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center in Muskegon, Michigan. I have worked as a substitute teacher at all grade levels, and was a youth leader in my church for nearly three years.

My family includes my parents, a younger brother and sister who was married in 2005. I have a West Highland Terrier named Sophie, and my parents have a Golden Retriever named Shanny who spends her days trying to avoid Sophie.
